lucky stars

An outer space theme, cool. Love the stars, so here this is, for 365 Cards' Day 204 - Outer Space, Masculine Style.

Stars patterned paper from AAS, ribbon from Carolina's. Used the MM Slice to make the silver stars.
The sketch is based on CPS 237.

I'm also entering this in Allsorts' Week 122 - Keep It Simple challenge.

sail away

What a challenge--365 Cards' Day 205 - Summer Vacation, Masculine Style. I have loads of summer stickers and stuff given by my friend Yen, but most were girly-girly. This is what I came up with:

I added another layer to the wavy patterned paper to have a 3D effect. What do you think?

L-O-V-E

The challenge was Day 206 - Love, Masculine Style. How to translate love into something masculine? I hope I did ok here:

Not sure why the letters ended up that way, the Slice was ok with 2" letters, but the 1" letters didn't turn out so well. So sad. Patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket and K&Co. Brad and cardstock from AAS. Ribbon from Carolina's.

This is based on a sketch from Card Patterns:

I'm also entering this in My Time to Craft's Challenge 158 - L is for... obviously!

teacher, teacher

This is for my teacher-friend who is celebrating his birthday. I thought that it was quite masculine... after all, masculine doesn't just mean earth colors or dark colors. What do you think about the maroon and yellow combination? This was just in time for 365 Cards' Day 203 - Back to School Masculine Style and coincidentally, Craft Us Crazy's Goodbye to Summer/School Theme.

Patterned paper from DCWV, maroon cardstock is one of my last treasures from the now-closed Papermart, brads from AAS.

I'm also entering this in Allsorts' Week 122 - Keep It Simple challenge.

the buzz is it's your birthday

Tried to make a bug-filled card to incorporate the words "The Buzz" for our office version of Boy Abunda. Sketch is from 365 Cards' Day 202 Super Sketchy Sunday. I'm also entering the little creatures in Papertake Weekly's Creature Comforts challenge.

Here's the original sketch from 365 Cards:

Patterned papers from DCWV. Cardstock from AAS. I added vellum on top of the background because the pattern was too vivid and busy.

angelic christmas

Another Christmas card, this time using an angel print on one of the old patterned papers. I'm entering this in Papercraft Star - Challenge 63 Sketch. This is also entered in Flutter By Wednesday's weekly challenge. I've used butterflies and now angels... maybe next time I'll do fairies. This also fits this week's challenge at City Crafter, Week 75 - Let's Face the Music.

And this is also a last-minute entry (since I just discovered the site today) at PaperPlay Challenges - Week 37 Punches and Dies. Most everything is punched or die-cut.

All papers from Craft Express, gold twine pieces are leftovers from a gift.

Here is the original sketch from Papercraft Star:

What do you think?

paperclip happiness

Continuing with the clean lines and white backgrounds these past few cards. I also scrounged around our catch-all/junk drawer and came up with two paper clips, which I included in the card, to comply with 365 Cards' Day 200 - The Utility Drawer challenge.

The quote from Jim Rohn says, "Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present." I tend to agree, what about you?

Papers are from DCWV again (I used the same papers here), paperclips from the drawer, ribbon from AAS. Again, I used my MM Slice machine for the tab folder die-cut.

I got the sketch for this from CPS 236, I've entered this there as well:

two friends

A simple card for 365 Cards' cute Day 201 - 1+1 + 1 Beautiful Card challenge, which stated, "Pick two of your dearest friends and choose something about them to contribute to your card. It can be anything you want that makes you think of them."

In this case, whenever I think of my good friends Maita, Angela, and Denise, I remember the color blue, we are all quite partial to it (for Maita, Angela and myself, it was our motif color during our respective weddings). It is also the color of our alma mater. And then I added a Scorpio, because Denise and I are both Scorpios. So here this is:

Blue patterned paper and blue cardstock from AAS. Pink patterned paper from DCWV. Bling from Divisoria.

I think this needs a little something more but I can't put my finger on it right now. This might be edited in the near future.

divide-and-conquer birthday

I think this is my favorite card for the week. This is for 365 Cards' Day 196 - Divide and Conquer challenge. I was also supposed to enter it into another challenge but I forgot to link up and missed the deadline. Heehee.

Green and blue papers and the sentiment are from DCWV, striped paper free from PaperCrafts UK. Practiced using the MM Slice machine once more. I'm scared to use it for more complex and smaller cuts for now, but this one turned out pretty good.

so much love

I loved the challenge from 365 Cards, Day 199 - A Year to Remember. I picked 2005, the year when my ex-boyfriend and I got back together and decided to make a lifetime commitment to each other, hence "So Much Love". And the butterflies signify new beginnings and lightness of being.

This is also entered in Party Time Tuesday's PTT#33 Ribbon, Fiber & Trim Oh My challenge, and Papertake Weekly Challenge's Things with Wings challenge.

Sentiment sticker from AAS, papers from DCWV, ribbon from Carolina's, flower bling from Papemelroti.

I didn't notice that the sentiment sticker from AAS was cut until I posted this, bad bad! I will have to redo this before I give it to my sister with their wedding gift.

from our family to yours

This is a very simple card but I like it very much. I guess it encapsulates my style, really, even for scrapbooking. I don't like piling on the embellishments so much, but I guess sometimes I really have to give that a try.

Red A3 card from DCWV, patterned papers from Crafts Express, copper wrapping paper from Hallmark and sentiment stamp from Inkadinkadoo.

This is entered for 365 Cards' Day 198 - Standout Sentiment challenge, as well as for Totally Papercrafts' Challenge #84 - Clean and Simples.

warm holiday wishes

Sentiment stamp is from Inkadinkadoo, all patterned papers from Crafts Express, buttons from AAS, ribbon from Carolina's.
This is based on 365 Cards' Day 195 sketch:

I've also entered this in Lili of the Valley's Challenge 112 - Red, Green & White, even if I rarely see simple cards like mine there, hee. I also just recently discovered the Bearly Mine challenge blog, and Challenge 19 has to do with buttons, what fun!

christening card for andres

A simple card for a christening. The focal embellishment is a safety pin (as related to diapers, even if I know these are rarely used now!) with beads.

All papers from AAS.

This is based on CPS sketch 235:

I'm entering this for 365 Cards' Day 197 - Beautiful Beads challenge as well. It also works for Day 200 - The Utility Drawer, but I'm still trying to see if there's something else from the utility drawer that I can use.

wonder

In a challenge after my own heart, 365 Cards did Day 194 - Personal Playlist. Here is my take on this challenge, inspired by one of my favorite songs of all time, always on the top of my playlist, Natalie Merchant's Wonder.

Actually the papers were supposed to be for the previous challenge, but the colors were a little off. The sentiment is based on the chorus of the song.

Patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket, blue cardstock from AAS, ribbons from Divisoria, flesh paper from Star Paper Centennial line.

thank you in brown

The challenge for Day 192 at 365 Cards was to use this color combo:

Here's my take:

Patterned paper from K&Co., all the rest are scrap papers. Ribbon from Carolina's.

an attempt at shabby chic

It was a challenge to put something together for 365 Cards' Day 191 - So Not Me challenge, primarily because I'm still exploring what my style is really. But one thing that I know I've never done is something shabby chic. It also just so happens that it is the current challenge on the Anything Goes Challenge Blog. And so here is my attempt at a Rachel Ashwell.

All papers are free from PaperCrafts UK magazine, because I've never gotten any "shabby chic" papers really. Ribbons are from AAS.

a simple christmas card

Pam posted a Card Recipe for Tuesday's challenge:
4.25" x 5.5" Card
One Additional Piece of Cardstock (any size)
4 Stickers
4 Buttons
Sentiment

Here's what I came up with.

Printed cardstock from Crafts Express; buttons from AAS; sentiment is from a stamp that I got from Fully Booked; bubble stickers from Hong Yun Xing.

blue and green birthday

Hitting three birds with one stone with this card. I'm still trying to decide whether to send this to Polet or to Mayk. Pardon the low light. I'm doing this at 12MN while waiting for Urban Zone to start.

I love the wavy paper, which is a play on our surname, and there's some sort of optical illusion where the paper looks like it's curled a little between each wave. Wave patterned paper and gem conchos are from AAS. Happy Birthday stamp was free from Papercrafts UK magazine. Vellum is from Veco. Blue scalloped ribbon is from Divisoria, green ribbon is from Carolina's. Blue background is leftover wrapping paper (Hallmark).

The 365 Cards challenge was Day 193 - Geography. This is inspired by a favorite vacation spot with lots and lots of sea. I don't really like to swim, but I would just love to go to a place where a vast expanse of ocean was greeting me... so relaxing!

Also entered for the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 133. Here's the sketch.

Also entered for the Allsorts Challenge Blog - Week 119 Green and Blue.

I'm enjoying doing these challenges because I get to dip into my stash and find some surprises that I purchased months, even years ago, and put them to good use.

a christmas pattern frenzy

The challenge over at 365 Cards was to use 6 different patterned papers in a card. Honestly, I took an easy way out because almost all Christmas papers match, right?

Tried to make it a little 3-D by using foam tape.

All patterned papers from Craft Express. Ribbon embellishment from National. Gem from Mark Richards.

Here is the inspiration sketch from CPS:

an attempt at a masculine birthday card

It's a challenge to make masculine cards when most of my papers are girly-girly. Here's an attempt--was it successful? I couldn't resist putting in the cake(/pudding?) sticker though.

Patterned paper and metallic brad is from AAS. Handmade sticker is also from AAS, given by Yen (!). Brown cardstock and circle embellishment is from an unbranded pack that I got from National...? Sentiment is cut out from a DCWV page.

This is entered for 365 Cards' Super Sketchy Sunday challenge for Sept 4. Here is the original sketch.

So Unusual

This is for 365 Cards' Day 185 - So Unusual challenge. It was indeed a challenge. I got to practice using the MM Slice machine as well as my exacto knife. And I finished all the challenges for the week (albeit a bit late), that was another challenge I wanted to take on.

Patterned paper and yellow cardstock from AAS (another old old kit), cream cardstock from Veco, green ribbon from Carolina's, sentiment cut out from a DCWV glitter stack paper.

Blue birthday cake

Here's a little birthday card. I realized that I don't have much graphic stamps, but I'm not sure if I want to make the investment. Will be adding a little more tonight, it looks like it's missing something, I think in the upper right portion of the cake panel. Should I add bling or should it be a flourish stamp? Your suggestions would be most welcome.

Patterned papers are all scraps. The embossed blue background and the damask print are from old wrapping papers (yay for Hallmark!). The cake stamp is from Papermania. Steel flower clips from AAS. Blue ribbon from Carolina's.

This is an entry for 365 Cards' Day 187 - Past, Present and Future challenge. The past refers to the flower clips, which used to be one of my favorite embellishments but which I haven't used in a while. Present refers to my current favorite color (ever my favorite color), blue. And Future refers to my coming birthday! :)

I'm also entering this in the Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge. Here's the sketch.

Flowery birthday

This is for 365 Cards'Day 186 - Pick-a-Pattern Challenge. I decided to make the curvy pattern the focal point of this simple card. The hubby likes this card the most among those I've done so far.

Blue patterned paper from an old old kit from AAS, foam flower from AAS, embellishments are punched from scrap paper using Carl Sakura punchers, ribbons from Carolina's, sentiment is cut out from DCWV Spring Glitter Stack.

ETA: I sent this card to Mrs. P for her birthday.

Buttons and bows for Christmas

A Christmas card to be used for 365 Cards' Day 182 - Buttons and Bows Challenge. It was a bit of a challenge because I had to go out and get a green button--didn't have any!

Red ribbon from Divisoria, green ribbon was recycled from an old gift, patterned papers from Craft Express, cream cardstock from Veco, red buttons from AAS, green button from Carolina's.

beautiful birthday

For one of my dearest friends. The sentiment refers to her admirable inner beauty, her sheer gorgeousness, and to her beauty spa business.

Flowers, patterned paper, butterfly and button are all from All About Scrapbooking. Cardstock from Veco, gold ribbon from National Bookstore crafts section.

This is for 365 Cards' Day 184 - White Space Challenge. Here's the sketch. Although I think I made the circle a bit too big. Hee.

Cruz Family Home-warming

I wasn't inclined to make anything for 365 Cards' Day 183 - Imagine This: Wrinkled Challenge. But I found this old paper--some may remember it from the heyday of Tickles when we were younger--when we were cleaning over the weekend, so I decided to use it for this card for the Cruzes' housewarming gift.

Sentiment detail:

The hubby likes this because it is a bit masculine, or so he says. Even if there is a flower with a pearl and gems. Heeehee. Cream cardstock from Veco, black cardstock from Prestige Paper Products, wrinkled paper from Tickles circa 1992 (?), flowers and pearl brad from AAS, and gems from Mark Richards.

I'm also entering this in CPS 233. Here's the sketch:
